Intellectuslly she wss anove most men, the store clerk, the photographer were all intimidated by her. She knew what she wanted she wanted someone who was a strong if not stronger than her. However Christian wss the first msn she ever met that intimidated her. She saw past his hard interior, and the wslls he built around him self. He wanted to be understood, but he was too afraid to let anyway in up until her.
He fought it every inch of the wsy, and she fought back as well. Submitting him sexually was bevause she enjoyed it just as much as he did. He was changing through out the movie despite his need to control her since she would not be controlled. She refuded to sign the contract, she allowed hetself ti be ooen to what he wanted. Shr stood her ground, he conoromised which he had never dobe before her. What happened between them was because she allowed it. She called him out on taking things to the limit, and decided for herself that it was her decision ultimately to allow him to touch her again since his methods were too extreme for her in the end.
She decided he was not worthy of her. She could careless about the money or gifts therefore she walked away. A narcissist, particularly a high functioning narcissist will not demonstrate empathy, unless it is used as a tool for manipulating a potential victim with lies and deceit.
I feel that the story is more about negotiating limits and defining and redefining personal identity over the course of a relationship. On their first meeting, Ana uses nonverbal cues and convinces Christian to move from behind the desk to sitting beside her for the interview. There is a lot of concern by BDSM groups about consent and the fact that Ana did not sign the contract, but her refusal to sign the contract is a way for her to gain leverage to renegotiate what she wants from their relationship.
Once she signs the contract, she is woman number 16, and she makes it very apparent how little that appeals to her. What I find most interesting about this film is the fact that the cat and mouse game continues long after the couple has sex. Most films explore what happens before copulation, as if sex is the final act in a relationship, a very male perspective.
This film explores an emotional side to sex. Ana and Christian are negotiating trust, identity, vulnerability, and many of the challenges that come with being in a relationship. In some ways the BDSM in the film is universally relatable because intimacy risks pain. Some might argue that Ana appeals to Christian because she is naive and impressionable, but Christian is a recent survivor of child abuse, and Ana comes across as a very safe person to be intimate with.
I do not believe Christian to be a total narcissistic; he has a heart, obviously, and tries to hide it. He was very honest with Ana, and even warned her about him, who he was. She could have easily gone to the police. She was curious, and even encouraged the act. She knew the "safe words," but never used them. The thing is, it goes both ways The four books are fantastic. The movie had more holes then swiss cheese, I did not like it.
I agree with what you said and couldnt have said it better myself. Not sure about the interview scene part. Christian did not sit beside her and she was not manipulating him, but rather focused on keeping her pride intact. Christian Grey may have disfunctional soul, psychological wounds, desire to hurt woman, BDSM or whatever. Lack of empathy being top sign of narcissism or any B cluster personality disorder, CG is everything but malignant narcissist. If we can understand when human beings need security, a sense of belonging and being needed then we understand that Christian Grey is a victim of a prostitute mother and to abuse at the age of 15 which continued for 6 years.
Ana Steele is not at all insecure Fifty Shades of Grey is poetic and can be viewed from very many angles. The Question is can love heal? Ana was not as weak as the critics describe and Christian was not as abusive to Ana as the Critics say. Ana was his ray of hope in his dark world.
